We have commissioned a
number of PowerPoint presentations to explain in
visual and simple terms the origin of the Arabic
numeral system and its family of numerals. This
undertaking was further expanded to include
special presentations covering the eastern and
western Arabic numerals and the various stages
of their development, as well as the nature of
the Cypher system and the ancient and modern
mysteries of the unique digits we use today.
The aim is to provide an
educational and informative content based
primarily on the Origin of the Arabic
Numerals by Historian Adel Bishtawi in addition
to on-going original research focusing on
the ancient Arabian civilization.
Naturally, heavy use is
made in all presentations of the eastern Arabic
numerals. Without Arabic support, the eastern
numerals are automatically converted to western
numerals. To avoid confusion, all presentations
have been modified to avoid the problem but at
the expense of substantial cases of animations.
Some are provided with music and both the show
and the music are zipped in a folder which
should be downloaded before unzipping.
We have also provided a
tailor-made presentations in PDF format to give
our readers more choice.
The presentations may be
distributed, stored and circulated free of
charge provided no changes are made to the
content therein, and the copyright of certain
materials used in the presentations is strictly
respected.
