Brief Résumé
HRH Prince
Abdulla Bin Musaad Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud was born in Riyadh, Saudi
Arabia on 19 February 1965 to
HRH Prince Musaad son of
King Abdul Aziz Al-Saud the founder of modern Saudi Arabia, and
Princess Fatima Hashim Al Nigris whose grandfather (Turki) was Head
one of the dominant Arab tribes in the region of north eastern Syria
bordering Iraq. Their second younger son is Prince
Abdul Rahman the well known poet.
For his early
education he attended Al Faisaliah school in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia,
and Al Maqassed Al Islamiah School in Beirut, Lebanon where he lived
with his family for several years before returning to Saudi Arabia
where he continued his high school studies at Madaris Al Riyadh,
Riyadh.
In January 1987
he was awarded Bachelor of Science First Class Honors Summa Cum
Laude degree in Industrial Engineering from
King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
His further
education and experience enhancement undertakings include special
courses and familiarization workshops and seminars in Engineering,
Management, IT and other fields in Saudi Arabia, UK, Switzerland and
the USA.
HRH Prince
Abdulla is one of the Kingdom's prominent businessmen and
industrialists. He is the founder and chairman of the largest paper
manufacturing and processing paper industrial facilities outside the
USA, Europe and Japan, in addition to interests in other fields and
activities in the trade, services and investments sectors in Saudi
Arabia and abroad. He travels extensively and joins other prominent
businessmen in overseas discussions to promote trade and
understanding between Saudi Arabia and the
other countries.
The current posts and responsibilities he assumes
include:
- Chairman of
HRH Prince Abdulla Foundation (1989)
- Chairman
and CEO of The Saudi Paper Manufacturing Group (1989 to date).
- The Group
comprises:
- The Saudi
Paper Manufacturing Company
- The Saudi
Recycling Company
- The Saudi
Company for Environmental Enterprises
- HRH is also
founder or in full or part ownership of several other companies
and enterprises registered in Saudi Arabia and Abroad.
- HRH is
author of A Thousand Mile in a One Step which was published by
The Arab Institute of Studies and Publications (Beirut, Lebanon)
in 2001. A second edition followed in 2003.
- HRH has
written a large number of articles, papers and studies in both
English and Arabic covering a wide spectrum of subjects
including the Future of sport in Saudi Arabia, Recycling, Market
Dumping, Antitrust laws, Unfair competition etc.
- HRH is a
regular host in Saudi and Arab TV shows covering sport and
general topics and a frequent lecturer in Saudi Arabia.
- HRH has a
keen interest in Saudi, Arab and American sport spanning almost
three decades, and has many close friends in Arab and
international sport including the famous basketball player
Hakeem Olajuwon. His book A Thousand Mile in a One Step
includes a full chapter on the current state of sport in Saudi
Arabia, and he has written extensively on the subject. In the
chapter, HRH unveiled his vision for the revival and development
of sport in Saudi Arabia to turn in into a viable industry based
on privatization. His vision was widely adopted as the only
practical solution to the various problems facing sport, and was
partly credited for the decision of the government to launch an
initiative to re-vitalize sport in Saudi Arabia currently in the
final stages of processing.
- After
declining on several occasions the Chairmanship of Al
Hilal Sport Club, a major first league football club in
Saudi Arabia, HRH conditionally accepted the responsibility of
turning round the fortunes of the once-mighty club. This mission
is in progress to date.
- HRH is
married to Her Royal Highness Princess Jawaher daughter of Fahd
Bin Abdulla Bin Muhammad Deputy Commander of the Maritime Forces
of Saudi Arabia. He has
five daughters and a son.
